BIO
Welcome to the Feline guitar web site.

I'm
Jonathan and I created and run the company. It's something I've always
wanted to do, and represents the achievement of a long-held dream.
I've
been building and repairing guitars since 1986. I've worked for a
number of high profile guitar companies, learning and improving on
my techniques and skills from other craftsmen. But I always wanted
to establish my own company, and Feline Guitars was born in 1997 to
make guitars to my very exacting standards.
I'm
a huge music fan, diverse in tastes from classical to punk, but rock
has always been my solid staple. I still get out to see as many live
bands as time allows and my appreciation of the best guitar tones
serves me well with the guitars i work on.
I'm
also a keen photographer – the pictures you see on the site
are done by me on the premises., and I have also started doing
a lot of photo shoots for bands which have started to be used on
album (cd) sleeves too.
About
Feline Guitars
We
specialise in guitar repairs, guitar upgrades and improvements. Set
up work and fret work are areas which we particularly excel at. I
love to make guitars play to their full potential and sound their
best.
We
create our own line of high-end electric guitars.
These
are either standard models that we make or custom build to your own
specific and exacting design. The idea behind our custom built range
is to build great guitars without compromise - using the very best
quality parts and materials.
MY PERSONAL AXES
I have been often asked to show what I play. Here are a couple of my own personal guitars, that I play. |
Amber Lion
One of my custom creations that I made for myself. The body is Brazillian mahogany that had been in storage for over 30 years with a flame maple top. A 3 piece mahogany neck with a macassar ebony fingerboard joins the body with our total access heel.
Quality hardware from TonePros, Gotoh, Sperzel, Bare Knuckle, CTS and Vitamin Q caps
Bare Knuckle Mules deliver the plugged in tones
1986 Charvel
Model 2
This is a rebuilt version of one of my first good quality guitars that I bought back in 1987.
The neck is original - albeit refretted with Dunlop 6000 fretwire.
it has a newer alder body and the paint finish is one of those colour changing ones that goes from a sandy gold colour to the purple that you see in this photo.
An original Floyd and an old EMG 58 round out the hardware |

"FRANKIE"
The white one is one of the earliest guitars that I put together for myself back in 1988.
It features a heavy Brazilian mahogany body and an ESP neck which is scalloped from the 13th-22nd frets.
It was always known as Frankie because it was a "Frankenstein" of a few bits and pieces. It has a HUGE sound like a Les Paul on steroids- truly awesome. It has a neck plate from the Shadow Guitar factory where I worked with the serial number 000666 which amused me at the time as being very "rock and roll" .
I am planning on making a replacement neck as I now find this one a touch narrow
BLONDE PANTHER
The Blonde guitar is a sister guitar to Frankie and features a one piece swamp ash body, an all access neck and the neck is scalloped once again from frets 13-22.
It is much lighter and has a very different vibe.
We were putting our trademark cats-eye inlay markers in the fretboards too. Still one of my favourite guitars that I have ever built or played |
